Towers School Grammar Stream offers pupils the unique opportunity to have access to a traditional Grammar school education while benefiting from a co-educational setting.
Students will be following a structured curriculum that will focus on achieving rapid progress from an accelerated pace of learning. Alongside the academic programme, students will be given access to a range of enrichment activities which will enable them to further development their own individual talents and skills. These will include film making, debating and sporting events. We will also be working closely with the University of Kent to help students think about their aspirations and further education.
Students will follow a two year Key Stage 3 before embarking on the Ebacc stream in Key Stage 4 which will include a humanities subject or a language as well as the core subjects. We have developed a partnership with the University of Kent specifically to encourage our young people to embrace the value of higher education and realise the important part it can play in their lives, particularly those with a high academic ability.
Working with the University of Kent we provide talks, workshops and activities, both on their campus and in school, to broaden horizons and importantly raise aspirations.
Our Specialist Careers Advisor will work with them to produce a personal Careers Action plan, helping them to consider what they want from life and how they might achieve it. In the first term they will take part in an Aspirational Fun Workshop, introducing them to University, meeting University ambassadors and a visit to the campus at Canterbury.
Students will also have access to the Welfare Team who will can offer a range of support to ensure pupils settle quickly into Secondary school and can easily negotiate the key milestones of their school life and successfully continue into adulthood.
Parents will be fully involved in the achievements of their children as the Grammar Stream will have additional parents’ evenings where students will be able to demonstrate their learning and share their success.
