Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Bronze Qualifying

Expedition 19th-20th July 2017

Congratulation to our Year 9 Bronze DofE participants.

A huge congratulations to our 9 Year 9 students who successfully completed their Bronze
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Qualifying Expedition over the past two days. Two groups
completed two days of hiking across the local countryside navigating routes that they had
devised themselves. Throughout this time all students maintained a positive attitude and
should be congratulated for this alone; it was not always easy to follow their routes,
carrying a heavy (55 litre) rucksack but they persevered.  On arrival at the campsite they were quick to pitch up their tents and cook themselves some interesting food.

Our pupils coped very well in all aspects of the expedition, showing great resilience and
masses of determination. We were impressed by the huge progress in navigation skills for
some and how others learnt to work better as a team. Both groups were thoroughly
debriefed at the end of their expedition, receiving advice as well as feedback from their
Assessor on their progress.

Congratulations to all! You did yourselves and us proud!
