Aerial Dance Academy

The Aerial Dance Academy offers a unique and exciting opportunity to learn and perform a variety of aerial skills on static trapeze, hoop, silks, cocoon and rope. In year 1 students’ work toward a Gold Arts Award qualification, worth 35 UCAS points and an EPQ AS level qualification in year 2. We are the only school in England that offers aerial as part of its curriculum.

We have a purpose built dance and aerial studio fully equipped for students to learn and perform in. Students participate in strength, flexibility and endurance classes to specifically condition the body for aerial and dance. We also look at different ways of integrating the two disciplines of dance and aerial. Aerial is challenging mentally and physically, fun and is an increasingly popular art form in the performing arts and commercial industry.

Mrs Carter has taught aerial skills for 14 years with the Whitstable based company Airhedz. Learning aerial skills requires commitment and dedication; it can build self-esteem, broaden your creative skills, improve your fitness, leave you feeling exhilarated and give you a great sense of achievement.
